Vianney Bisimwa is the Regional Director for CIVIC’s Sahel program. Prior to joining CIVIC, he served as Country Director in Mali and Head of Goma and Kinshasa Offices in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with Search For Common Ground. He worked in the Central African Republic (CAR) as Social Cohesion Program Manager with Danish Refugee Council during the 2014 crisis where he was involved in the emergency mediation program with armed forces and armed groups in Bangui. Vianney also worked as Country Program Manager for Geneva Call DRC and as Head of Humanitarian and Tackling Violence and Building Peace program of Christian Aid in DRC. He worked as trainer, facilitator, program manager and community engagement expert in DRC, Rwanda, Burundi, Madagascar, Chad, CAR, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Kenya.

​Vianney brings experience in conflict transformation, peace building, community engagement, mediation, facilitation, advocacy, leadership, security governance, and security sector reform. He is one the co-founders of the DRC Amani Festival and initiator of the Forum of Peacebuilding Agencies in Mali.

Vianney holds a Masters degree in Industrial Agriculture engineering from the University of Goma.
