Uli is CIVIC’S Director of Development. She leads CIVIC’s global partnerships and resource mobilization work. She brings 23 years of experience advocating, fundraising and engaging stakeholders on behalf of vulnerable populations. Having started out in refugee protection, serving with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Tehran, Beirut and Geneva, she went on to hold external relations and program roles at WHO and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, followed by appointments as Development Director at the International Crisis Group, Senior Adviser at Crisis Action, and most recently, as Managing Director – Strategic Partnerships at the Freedom Fund. A specialist in government engagement and inter-agency coordination, Uli has also worked extensively across the foundation and private philanthropy space and built several resource mobilization operations from scratch. Immediately prior to joining CIVIC, Uli spent 18 months working as an independent strategy and communications consultant.She holds an MA in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington D.C. and a BSocSc in Political Science and International Studies from Birmingham University in the UK.
