Poweide Koroye is the Director of Global Accounting, Budget, and Finance at the Center for Civilians in Conflict (CIVIC).

He leads a team that provides a wide range of services including payment processing, accounting policy and procedural advice, cash flow management, audits and financial statement preparation, tax filing, and compliance. Working in partnership with other teams such as Information Technology and Programs, the Accounting & Finance team also provides guidance and support to CIVIC offices around the world.

Poweide is a chartered accountant (CPA-equivalent) with more than 30 years of experience in finance and assurance roles that span accounting, planning, analysis, reporting, audit and quality assurance, and financial management.

His background covers the public and private sectors and includes 15 years at the World Bank’s headquarters in Washington, D.C., which he left in 2020. Prior to joining CIVIC, Poweide worked as a consultant and independent board member, providing advice to start-ups and businesses in Africa on finance, strategy, processes, and internal controls.

Over the course of his career, Poweide has worked in the USA, UK, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East in roles of increasing significance. His results have included successfully leading implementations of systems with organisation-wide impact such as Payroll and AML/ CFT; providing senior management with important insights using financial and non-financial information; leading mission-critical functions such as the teams preparing financial statements; and producing financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow analyses.

He holds an MBA (Finance) from the University of Oxford’s Said Business School and a B.Sc. in Building (Engineering) from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. Poweide is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (FCA), a Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
