As the Communications and Media Manager, Matthew collaborates with the programs, advocacy and research teams to increase visibility of CIVIC’s work by carrying out initiatives that amplify the voices of those caught in conflict. His career has focused on expanding awareness of social protection, displacement, and migration issues throughout the Middle East, East Africa, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. In addition to his work as a communications and media consultant on projects with USAID, DFID, SIDA, GIZ, and other government agencies for development cooperation, Matthew worked at YouGov in Iraqi Kurdistan as a campaign strategist, the Afghanistan Research and Evaluation Unit in Kabul as a communications and advocacy coordinator, and co-founded a non-profit that designs and implements mental health awareness campaigns in conflict-affected settings. He holds a MSc from Oxford University’s Department of International Development in Migration Studies and a BS from Brigham Young University in Communications.
