Lauren Spink is CIVIC’s Senior Advisor on Research. She provides high-level research support across CIVIC’s country and thematic programming, including on design of research methodologies, editing research publications, conducting field research, and training staff on research practices. She leads on drafting CIVIC research policy and on the organization’s strategy for innovation in research. Before moving to her current role, Lauren served as CIVIC’s Senior Peacekeeping Researcher, managing the organizations work in the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. Prior to joining CIVIC, Lauren worked for four years in refugee resettlement, primarily in sub-Saharan Africa, where she was deployed to UNHCR offices throughout the continent to interview civilians fleeing conflict. She has also worked as a researcher for the World Peace Foundation, Conflict Dynamics International, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the Humanitarian Evidence Program at the Feinstein International Center. Lauren holds a MA from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University where she studied Human Security and Migration (magna cum laude) and a BA from American University in International Relations (magna cum laude).
