Darian Weltman Swig is deeply engaged in the human rights, philanthropy, and nonprofit sectors with over 25 years of experience as an advisor, convener, and social impact investor. She is Founder and President of Article 3 Advisors, a San Francisco based consultancy that works at the nexus of human rights and strategic philanthropy, and Co-founder and Board Chair of Article3.org, a nonprofit that works to strengthen the human rights philanthropy ecosystem.

Darian has decades of civic engagement experience and has served on numerous nonprofit Boards. She currently serves on the Board of Trustees of International Crisis Group and as Director Emeritus of the International Board of Human Rights Watch, where she served 12 years in various leadership roles. She also serves on the Advisory Board of the Human Rights Center at the University of California at Berkeley and advisor to the Stanford Center for Human Rights and International Justice.

Darian’s life continues to be inspired and shaped by exposure to courageous human rights activists as well as through extensive global travel with NGO led missions. Her philanthropic interests support universal human rights advocacy and U.S. Criminal Justice Reform.

Darian holds an M.A. in Political Science, M.A. in International Area Studies, and B.A. in Social Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
