Chidi Ukoha is the Senior Military Advisor with CIVIC’s Nigeria team. He is a retired Colonel from the Nigerian Army.

Before joining CIVIC, Chidi was the Logistics Manager at Africa Nature Investors, a conservation biased NGO intent on revitalizing the Gashaka-Gumti National Park in Taraba State Nigeria. In this capacity, he coordinated the execution of the major logistics activities key to transforming the park to meet international standards. Prior to that, he worked briefly as a training facilitator with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) where he was able to initiate and conduct training facilitations on International Human Rights Law  and Law of Armed Conflict across different military and police formations in Nigeria. Chidi was also a military officer in the Nigerian Army, where he rose to the rank of Colonel after spending 19 years as a commissioned officer. Within that period he did various tours of duty both within and outside the country. In this regard, he was a part of the contingent for peacekeeping operations in Sierra Leone in 2004 and has also partaken in various internal security operations across the country. He was an instructor at the Nigerian Defence Academy as well as a Directing Staff at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College Nigeria among other military deployments.

Chidi holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the Nigerian Defence Academy and an MSc in the same course from the University College London. He is a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineering as well as the Council of Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management and  Institute of Corporate Administrators and holds various certificates from training in both military institutions and the ICRC. In addition, he holds a proficiency certificate in Cyber Security and Incident Response for Social Engineering as well as a professional Diploma in Criminology and Security Studies.
