Al-Hussain Sawlan is the Yemen Program Associate in Marib Governorates at Center for Civilians in Conflict. He has been a youth activist in community development since 2007, when he established the “Youth Lobby Group”(YLG), which aims to encourage and empower young people to monitor the performance of parliament and government institutions and enhance communication between youth and decision makers through their effective participation in decision-making and policy-making processes in order to promote a healthy, democratic and peaceful society. Mr. Al-Hussain has worked with local and international NGOs on youth initiatives in Yemen.
He served as the administrative director of the dialogue project in the province of Marib of the “International Organization for Migration”(IOM) in 2013, and worked from 2015-2017 as an official distribution point relief from the Norwegian Refugee Council in Sana’a. At the Norwegian Refugee Council, his work focused in the distribution of relief aid to beneficiaries displaced and affected by conflict In Yemen. He was also the supervisor of the process of storage and distribution and leadership of the administrative team in charge of distribution and disbursement of checks, and as a Field Research Assistant at Mwatana Organization for Human Rights in Mareb, where his work focused in investigating violations by all the sides to the armed Conflict, as well as documenting the violations of armed non-state actors. He brings extensive experience in Project Development, Training, Civil Society, Community Engagement, Humanitarian Aid, Conflict Management, Advocacy, and Human Rights.
